<p>We scrounge local thrift stores (& our neighbors’ free piles) to get discarded sweaters & blankets, most of them with a hole or two. Then we soak them in distilled vinegar to kill any mold and get rid of nasty fragrances. Then we wash them in hot water with the gentlest, most natural soap (no detergent—YUCK!). Finally, we cut them into long strips, braid them, knot the ends with half-hitches, and do a figure-eight in the center (the little scraps are being saved for stuffing toys). note: some smaller toys only have end knots; some longer ones get two figure eights! the length of the strips determines the # of knots you get, each toy is unique!)</p>
<p>Wool, being a natural fiber, is much gentler on delicate gums than artificial fibers found in many rope toys or braided tugs made from polartec type polyester. Let your dog enjoy some soft mouth feel, along with a safe tooth and gum massage, and if’s this little treasure is buried in the backyard- no worries, it’s 100% biodegradable/compostable.</p>
